The Fairlee Community Music Series presents:
Moment’s Notice Trio
The Moment’s Notice Trio is a jazz combo dedicated to the performance of great standards from the American popular music songbook. The musicians include Gary Matthews on bass, Steve Blair on guitar, and Bear Irwin on trombone and piano. The group may be best known for providing music for many years for guests at the Basin Harbor Club. Altogether, the musicians have several decades of teaching experience; Gary Matthews taught music in northeastern Vermont for over 25 years, Steve Blair served as chair of the Johnson State College Music Department for many years, and Bear Irwin has taught music at all levels since the 1970s. These musicians also perform with the Vermont Jazz Ensemble and other groups in Vermont.
Concerts will happen RAIN OR SHINE, so don’t let adverse weather keep you away. In the event of bad weather, the Fairlee Community Church, located on the common, has generously offered the use of their building.
Bring a chair or blanket to sit on. Having an umbrella nearby be a good idea also, in case rain starts partway through a performance.
See the Fairlee Community Music Series web page for more details
Tuesday July 18th, the Firefighters of Orford will again be selling food and drinks for the concert event. The main course will be fresh lobster rolls. Beautiful fresh lobster meat on a toasted roll. How fresh? We are driving them from the dock ans bringing them right to the steam pot. Limited supply of course so get them early.
