If you own a business in Fairlee’s Village Area you may qualify for a tax credit on any work on your facade and/or signage. The Village Area is roughly everything between the railroad and the Interstate from just North of the diner down to Birch Meadow Road on the South end. See the Zoning Map.
Applications for State Downtown and Village Center tax credits are due annually on July 1. Application materials for the next round of funding will be posted in April 2017 on the State of Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development website at http://accd.vermont.gov.
State Downtown & Village Center tax credits are available for eligible commercial buildings and non-profit owned buildings constructed before 1983 (sorry, no private residences, but rental properties are eligible) located within designated downtown or village centers.
